Ashley Fox held a live chat on philly.com yesterday. Here's part of the discussion: Hey, Ashley, do you think it was smart to lock Brent Celek up for that many years?- Bob This was quintessential Eagles , locking up a good young talent early. I think it was a good move. If he keeps improving on the arc he's been on, they probably will have gotten him for a steal. Do the Eagles honestly have a chance to catch the Cowboys?- Carl
Oh sure. Since 2000 - and I love this stat - the Cowboys are 15-26 in regular-season games played in December and January. It's the fourth-worst record in the NFL. Certainly, every year is different, but there are a lot of players on that roster who haven't experienced success down the stretch, and there are a lot on the Eagles who have. I think that makes a difference.
With so many offensive weapons for the Eagles ailing, this could be a coming-out party for Mike Vick in the dome he played in for so long. Thoughts?- Matt I guess, yes, it could be. It would be fascinating, for sure, to see how that crowd would react. I think it's interesting too that Matt Ryan is out. Just a weird circumstance all the way around. I can't wait to hear the Dome when Vick goes in for the first time.
Do the majority of the other players have that same point of view that Sheldon Brown has about training camp?- Birds fan Do they think it's too hard or too long? I'm sure they do. The young kids don't know the difference, though. But Sheldon does have a point. A lot of teams now have training camp at their practice facility. That's not really camp. It's two-a-days. Staying in a dorm room is no fun for those guys.
Can the Eagles win three of five to finish 10-6? Will that be good enough to win the division? I actually can see them winning four of five, but I don't want to get crazy here.- Kevin
Sure. They can win three of five, and I'd bet it'd be Atlanta, San Francisco, and Denver. Split the two road divisional games and that's your four of five. They just as easily could lose three of five. That's the maddening thing about this team. They're that inconsistent.
If 10-6 isn't good enough to win the division, it should be good enough for the wild card. Now, can they beat New Orleans or Minnesota on the road once they get into the playoffs? I'd doubt that.
Who do you think is better, Vikings or Saints?- Kevin
I was highly impressed by what the Saints did to the Patriots on Monday night. And their defense really played well. I know the Patriots are having issues on defense, but they couldn't stop the Saints' offense. They had no answer. And Drew Brees has thrown a touchdown pass to just about every player on the roster. So I'm going with New Orleans.
I'm currently stationed in Texas and unfortunately surrounded by Cowboy fans. I feel as though the city of Philadelphia and Eagles fans have a better grasp on the game, as well as the demand. Cowboys fans seem like they watch the game because that's what Texas people do. Would you agree?- Scott
That's an interesting take. There are great fans everywhere, but the intensity level here is unsurpassed. Not even those nuts out in Oakland take their Football as seriously. There's an edge here, a nastiness, a toughness that's not other places. I haven't been to Jerryworld for a game yet, but I can't imagine it's harder to play there than it is to play here.
