NFL Week 13 2009-12-06

NFL Week 13 2009-12-06NEW ORLEANS Saints (11-0) at WASHINGTON Redskins (3-8)

Time: 1 p.m. | TV: Ch. 5

Line: Saints by 9 1/2

The Saints clinch the NFC South with a victory or tie - or if Atlanta loses against or ties Philadelphia. New Orleans is scoring a league-high 37 points a game, and its 407 points are fourth best in NFL history through 11 games.

If the weather were worse, the Redskins might have a chance, but the Saints have way too many weapons. Saints 34-21

TENNESSEE Titans (5-6) at INDIANAPOLIS Colts (11-0)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Colts by 6 1/2

The teams have combined for 16 straight regular-season wins, tying the longest streak of any teams meeting since 1970. When Denver and Seattle met in 1984, they also had combined for 16 straight victories.

Tennessee has won five straight following six straight losses, but the Titans won't complete the total comeback. Colts 34-27

DETROIT Lions (2-9) at CINCINNATI Bengals (8-3)

Time: 1 p.m. | TV: Ch. 45

Line: Bengals by 13

The Lions are the last team to play a regular-season game at Paul Brown Stadium, which opened in 2000. Detroit QB Matthew Stafford leads NFL rookies with 2,124 passing yards and 12 touchdowns.

Cincinnati is 8-3 and needed a grocery store to buy tickets to give away to prevent a local blackout. Now that's lousy fan support. Bengals 30-21

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (1-10) at CAROLINA Panthers (4-7)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Panthers by 5 1/2

The Bucs have lost three games on final-minute drives, including last week against Atlanta. The Panthers' DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart combined for 262 rushing yards in the first meeting, but Williams has a sore ankle.

Matt Moore starts for an injured Jake Delhomme. It should serve as an audition to be the starter in 2010. Panthers 17-10

NEW ENGLAND Patriots (7-4) at MIAMI Dolphins (5-6)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Patriots by 4 1/2

Randy Moss leads the NFL with 992 receiving yards and is on the verge of reaching 1,000 for the 10th time. Only Jerry Rice (14 seasons) did it more. Wes Welker has 37 catches in five games against Miami, his former team.

The Patriots usually storm back following a big loss, but New Orleans exposed some warts on their defense. Dolphins 31-27

OAKLAND Raiders (3-8) at PITTSBURGH Steelers (6-5)

Time: 1 p.m. | TV: Ch. 13

Line: Steelers by 14 1/2

The Steelers average 138 yards a game more than the Raiders and allow 88.5 yards fewer. Raiders first-round pick Darrius Heyward-Bey had his first career TD catch last week.

Pittsburgh gets Big Ben back, and it's in must-win territory. But the Steelers aren't good enough to blow anybody out. Steelers 20-13

ST. LOUIS Rams (1-10) at CHICAGO Bears (4-7)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Bears by 9

The Rams have dropped three straight since beating Detroit 17-10 on Nov. 1. Kyle Boller has five interceptions and two lost fumbles in just 14 quarters. He got picked off twice last week.

It's a good thing Chicago is playing St. Louis - it's about the only offense the beleaguered Bears defense can slow down. Bears 13-3

HOUSTON Texans (5-6) at JACKSONVILLE Jaguars (6-5)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Pick

The Texans have lost three in a row, all by less than eight points. They appeared poised to beat Jacksonville in the first meeting, but running back Chris Brown fumbled at the 1-yard line with two minutes to play.

Houston is reeling after two crushing home division losses. The Jaguars continue their improbable wild-card pursuit. Jaguars 21-17

DENVER Broncos (7-4) at KANSAS CITY Chiefs (3-8)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Broncos by 5

The Chiefs won 25 of their first 27 between these founding members of the AFL, but the series lately tilts in favor of the home team. The Chiefs have won 11 of 14 and five of six at Arrowhead. The Broncos are 8-0 vs. the Chiefs at Invesco Field.

Denver should be a double-digit favorite because of an additional rest and because the Chiefs, well, stink on offense. Broncos 28-6

PHILADELPHIA Eagles (7-4) at ATLANTA FALCONS (6-5)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Eagles by 5

The Eagles have won six of the past seven meetings. Philadelphia is going for its 100th win of the decade. Since the start of the 2000 season, they are 99-55-1. Eagles running back Brian Westbrook (concussion) will miss his third straight game.

No Matt Ryan and probably no Michael Turner for Atlanta equals a win for the Eagles, who are without DeSean Jackson. Eagles 27-23

SAN DIEGO Chargers (8-3) at CLEVELAND Browns (1-10)

Time: 4 p.m. | TV: Ch. 9

Line: Chargers by 13 1/2

After starting 2-3, the Chargers have won six straight to take control of the AFC West. San Diego has won a remarkable 14 straight games in December. In their last visit to Cleveland, the Chargers shut out the Browns 21-0.

Today's high in Cleveland - 41 degrees. If it were a little cooler with some wind and snow, San Diego would be in trouble. Chargers 27-3

SAN FRANCISCO 49ers (5-6) at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (4-7)

Time: 4:15 p.m.

Line: Pick

The 49ers have won two of the last three at Seattle. Running back Frank Gore has averaged 160 yards from scrimmage in the past seven meetings. He romped for a career-high 212 yards against Seattle in 2006 and for 207 yards in the previous meeting.

It took a while, but ex-Maryland star Vernon Davis has developed into a Pro Bowl-quality tight end for San Francisco. 49ers 20-17

DALLAS Cowboys (8-3) at NEW YORK Giants (6-5)

Time: 4:15 p.m. | TV: Chs. 5, 45

Line: Cowboys by 2 1/2

Neither team has played since Thanksgiving. Dallas will try to avoid being swept by New York for the first time since 2004. The Giants have allowed the fourth-fewest yards a game; the Cowboys are averaging the fourth-most yards.

Neither team is impressive, but the loss of linebacker Antonio Pierce will keep the Giants out of the playoffs. Cowboys 23-17

MINNESOTA Vikings (10-1) at ARIZONA CARDINALS (7-4)

Time: 8:20 p.m. | TV: Chs. 4, 11

Line: Vikings by 3 1/2

Brett Favre will play his 283rd consecutive game, moving into sole possession of the NFL record for a position player. He is tied with Jim Marshall at 282. Minnesota has won seven of eight road games dating to last season.

This is the season's first game to be flexed into prime time; nobody loves Brett Favre more than NBC. He won't disappoint. Vikings 27-20

BALTIMORE Ravens (6-5) at GREEN BAY Packers (7-4)

Time: 8:30 p.m. Monday | TV: ESPN

Line: Packers by 3 1/2

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers got the first extended playing time of his NFL career in a blowout loss at Baltimore in 2005, completing 8 of 15 passes for 65 yards but taking three sacks and throwing an interception.

Green Bay is 7-4 but has beaten nobody. The Ravens bust through the Packers' leaky offensive line to harass Rodgers. Ravens 13-9
